OKI has delivered Japan's first Remote VFR system for ATS (RVA) to the Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). The RVA enables remote operations of Aerodrome Flight Information Services (AFIS) and Aerodrome Control Services at airports. At a remote center, live camera footage and ambient sound from an airport are transmitted in real time over the network, providing a view nearly equivalent to that of an on-site control tower. This allows operators to conduct their duties as if they were on site, supporting the safe operation of aircraft. This video also features the first domestic implementation at Amami Airport. ※As of 2026, the operation has been transferred to the Fukuoka Airport Office, where it continues to be carried out using our equipment.
